Little Black Duck - 12g, 2Kg/cm miniature servos from DAGU

OddBot's picture

Have you ever built a robot and then found your miniature servos were not quite strong enough?
Get yourself a flock of ducks! DAGU's little black ducks!

DAGU are now selling a 2Kg/cm servo that is only slightly taller than a standard miniature servo. The height difference allows for thicker, stronger gears and a bearing to support the load.

Well After a year joining LMR..

I have finally starded to work on the real reason to join LMR...

Make a RC aircraft...

I have got all the materials and dont tell me about the materials/requirements for that...

Just please suggest me designs.. for it... I had few designs in mind but after surfin the net and knowing there are so lots and loads of designs to make, I got confused..

I am using dapron.

I want designs.. not any part of electronics...

Magnetic servo clutches from DAGU

OddBot's picture

After years of being frusatrated by stripped gears in my servos I have finally done something about it. DAGU is now producing servo clutches to suit 8g and 9g miniature servos.

Unlike normal servo savers, Dagu servo clutches can be continuously rotated without damage to the clutch or the servo. They look like a servo horn but are a few millimeters thicker. They can be configured for both standard and continuous rotation servos. Here are some common configurations:

How do I set up a RC control system. Cheep.

I am going to try to make a small cheep telepresence bot using a board of education and an Ipod touch (for the actual chatting) and I was wondering how I should control it. I am trying not to use a another microprocessor.

Arduino/ servo/ RC basics

I'll start off admitting that I'm a complete novice at robot building, so pardon me for what is probably stupid questions. I have bought an arduino with the intention of building a robot and have an idea of doing so mainly with servos, and I know that I can probably run them off the arduino without any problems helped by the arduino servo library, but can I just plug them in directly to the arduino or do I need a resistor in between or something? And question 2 How do I make my robot controllable via R/C? How do I put those circuits(?) together?

Experimental RC Robotic Hand

Aaronsuper1's picture

Introducing my Experimental RC Robotic Hand. I'm going to use it for a robot that I will use to take on Ro-bot-X's "Search And Rescue" Challenge. It's purpose is to get a hold on the drink, obviously. This is only Version 0.2, I'm am currently building a lighter and easier to use grabber to replace the heavier hand that is attached to the winch motor.  More updates soon.

hello i was watching the lates on hobby robtics on you tube and it had 100 things to build or something like that anyway the second one was to build a remote controll for your robot so you dont have to reprogram it every time you want to test something out. i have no idea how to go about doing this. i think he gave some information but i did not understand any of it. please could someone help.

p.s. i use picaxe if that makes any difference

Electric braking

MG2R's picture

I'm working on an RC car and was thinking about the braking. The idea is: I'm driving at full speed and need to turn. Obviously, because my car is going to break the land speed limits ( ;) ), it cannot take the turn at full speed so I'll need to slow down. Now, just releasing the throttle won't be enough, so I'll have to brake extra somehow. I was thinking about giving slight reverse throttle, so that with PWM, I can handle the braking intensity. Now I don't know what this would mean current-wise.

Ok, so I'm working on a plan to bring my little brother's little Niko RC car (you know, these models that suddenly break down for no reason at all after three charges) back to life. The plan is:

Ok, so I'm working on a plan to bring my little brother's little Niko RC car (you know, these models that suddenly break down for no reason at all after three charges) back to life. The plan is:

  1. Yank out old electronics (fun job, done ^^)
  2. Test steering servo and current draw of drive motor
  3. Build new electronics

Step 2 will be done by tonight but I have a few hickups on step three.

Rc car re-interfacing with a home pc

Hello,i am quite new to the world of robots and so to get started i bought an rc car from a local store. The key thing i want to do is to change my rf remote so that i can use it from my pc.Now is there a way to change its board or rf remote configuration or the second thing i may think is to buy a new board and interfacing it to the pc via provided interface. The chip used is in the rf remote is TX-2B .Plz guide me i really wanna complete this project.............:(:(:(

Robotic Arm Control

Jaryd's picture

I have built a robotic arm. You can see it in the robot section. It is called IPTUPED.

Now that it is built i can only prgram it to pick up something that is in the same time. I need a new control method.

Due to the fact that i am pretty new to this i need some ideas. Basically i am asking you guys if you can help me find a good method. I have seen wii and arduino, nd rc. I need a good tutorial online somewhere that can help me control it. So far i have only been able to find a method that can control 2 servos. I am using 4 and maybe 5 in the future. Thanks for any help.

Question about batteries

Hi again,

I have a RC Apache helicopter from JayCar (Australia) and 'I think' the battery is dead, seeing it won't turn on. I know its has 7.4 volts and is 850Ah, but to replace the battery would cost $50.

Would it be possible to replace the battery with 5 1.5v AA or AAA bateries instead?

Thanks

rc plane electronics - as cheap as possible

johannesgj's picture

hey.

im thinking about making a rc plane workshop for them local kids in the neighboorhood in copenhagen.

i have an ok understanding of the plane design but i miss general info of the electronics.

i would like to use as many salvaged, recycled or second hand materials as possible.

i have found the following kit for the electronics which is kinda cheap:

but its only the receiver and not the controller.

RC receiver question

1ceman's picture

Hey LMR!

I need your help on this one: Above is the RC setup I'm planning to use in my next project. I extracted it from a wrecked RC plane I got my hands on. As you can see it's quite basic: a 4-channel receiver, speed controller + motor and servos. I know that each controller function corresponds to one of the four designated outputs on my receiver. You'll notice there's also another output port, labelled 6/B:

Break a leg, Wild Thumper!

rik's picture

I experimented a bit with video. The weather was perfect for it, as reported earlier.

One laptop with webcam streaming live from my balcony to ustream.tv. And my little 10fps camera on board. Then fool around until the batteries run dry.

Afterwards I found a problem in one of thumper's "legs". It limped. Exploratory surgery confirmed the great fear: a gear is missing some teeth. Oh well, we'll always have the photos.

With all the recent talk with regards to the Wii_Nunchuk ..... and somewhere in a post someone dared me to attach a Wii-Nunchuk to Depron, i thought that at least i should give it a whirl to see how it felt.

Findings :-

I know that its still in "Dry-Hanger" at the moment but from my feelings the Nunchuck would only be of any use for the Ailerons.

The perfect recipe

giving life to dead rc vehicles

I’ve found this two rc vehicles on a junk, they are in a very bad condition. The big one has the DC motor burned out, I will try to replace it.. brushless motor maybe.

They both have two different gear mode (hi and low speed), I am wishing to try it out.
