Advanced Robot Arm Project

This is a long term project to develop a robotic arm that is more advanced that traditional hobbyist arms using RC servos without being so expensive that only well funded universities can afford it.

The first prototype gripper used standard RC servos while we experimented with the configuration as shown in the first video. Once I had a good gripper configuration I built a prototype arm for it as shown in the second video. This arm used a differential drive system with the goal being to keep the weight of the motors as close to the shoulder as possible.

Course in Control of Mobile Robots

In the shoutbox we were discussing about this course.

Is this course something that brings us forward in the control of our mobile robots?

Is anyone from LMR attending this class?

Advice on BSc Final Year Project

I am currently in the final year of my Computer Science Degree, and for the dissertation as I am study Computer Vision as one of my modules I was considering a project which involved a robot which could locate and track objects. I believe though that this may be too simplistic for the course so I was wondering if anyone here could offer me some advice on the matter, as it would be very much appreciated. I'd have to site you as a source of reference as all such things have to be included in the project bibliography.

Applying to robotics course

Hello, this is my first post here but the subject is very important for me. I have a last year in school and chosen robotics as a course to study in University.

So the question is - do anybody knows good university with normal entry requirements around in europe?

Any suggestions?

Advice for selecting a university course in robotics.

Heey guys,

I've just joined your community after going through your website. I loved it so decided to make an account!

I'm a 18 year old student currently living in Melbourne, Australia. I currently study an Advanced Diploma of Computer Science which I will be finishing in a couple months. To be honest just writing software (especially GUI's) for business, etc. doesn't interest me.

I've always had a passion for knowing how things work and designing things. But unfortunately I've never really finished any cool projects yet.

Now on to my questions:

Super Basic

Hey guys, I am a Product Design Engineering student at Glasgow University / Glasgow School of Art, and we just got our project brief for this semester. In groups we have to make a multi-purpose vehicle that competes in a series of challenges, in a sort of 'Vehicle Olympics'. So, the challenges are:

1) Hill climb - 20m track up a steep hill. Simple time trial.

2) Tug of War - Vehicles will be tied back to back, on a Vaseline-covered area. First robot to get further, or out the ring wins
