How to hook a actuator up to a servo.?

Im currently building a remote control snow plow, yes it sounds crazy, but very cool. Right now im trying to figure out a way to lift the plow up and down. I have an actuator from an electric wheelchair. my issue is how do i hook it up to the servo so it can be remote opperated!

Thank you for your help!!

Experimental RC Robotic Hand

Aaronsuper1's picture

Introducing my Experimental RC Robotic Hand. I'm going to use it for a robot that I will use to take on Ro-bot-X's "Search And Rescue" Challenge. It's purpose is to get a hold on the drink, obviously. This is only Version 0.2, I'm am currently building a lighter and easier to use grabber to replace the heavier hand that is attached to the winch motor.  More updates soon.

Okay. If you know i am building cheap 4-DOF biped.
If you want to know what would it be,it's going to be like EasyBotics Easy Biped :O

I got some ideas and i ordered 4x Hextronik HXT900 servos.
Next thing i buy is PCB making things and PicAxe 14M.
I make chassis when i get some plastic sheets.
But i can tell you some things:
- It has a homemade IR sensor
- And led eyes
- I can modify it easy to walk and avoid obstacles or be a sumo or dance
- I may add an IR receiver to remote control mode

floor cleaning

I am no robotics pro, but have an idea that has merit in my work. I want to build a bot, likely based on a heavy "battlebot" off the shelf chassis. This will be mounted with rotor swinging "swiffer" or similar treated dusters. The idea is to automate dust mopping of very large floor areas in a nuclear power plant, and possible adapt the machine to decontaminate radiologically dirty areas.

Ideas for a remote controlled actuator with some limitations

Hi

A friend of mine is biologist and needs to capture regularly ducks to control their health.

He has made a jail which door can be released easily (guillotine door), but this jail is going to be placed on a platform in the middle of a small lake. He has asked for my help to build a device to remotely close the door.

Our first idea was a Hobby remote controller and receiver to activate a servo to close the door.

But there are some limitations which worries us:

Would it be possible to connect the output from a RC reciever to the digital input of a pcaxe 28x1 board and controll the motor outputs?

Of course it's doable, that's not really the question. But does anybody have any thought regarding it? Has anybody done it? I presume the signal out from the RC reciever is a standard Servo-signal. I know CtCpassed a signal from a RC reciever through his 28x1, but I don't wanna controll servos,I wanna controll a couple of DC motors.

WiFi - how can I talk to my bot with it?

OddBot's picture

I don't know much about networks and communications but most laptops and routers these days are wireless. Can we use this to interface with our bots?

A quick google on WiFi protocol told me that it is technically referred to as the 802.11 protocol.

The Xbee transceivers can also form a wireless network using the 802.15.4 protocol.

This is my first attempt to make a custom remote controller, and also my first customized Arduino.
After seeing this post made by ObbBot I wanted to try to make one myself.

I figured that if I purchase one remote controller it would be cheaper than buying two of these and paying shipment to Portugal.

So, ripping the guts from a game remote controller I get two joysticks, a couple of buttons, two nice motors and one small lcd.
