Let's Make Robots!

You know I bought a Service Droid from Dagu, right? I wrote about assembling the kit here: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/39518

My first Arduino SHR

Hello LMRians. I'm now super exited as most of my robot parts have finally arrived!

These parts are going to be used for my first SHR. The brain, if you would like to know, is an Arduino-based microcontroller.

It is indeed the Ubotino Controller V3 and measures at a mouth-gaping (for me that is) 5 x 5 cm!

This board can be bought by our well known Ro-Bot-X at his online shop : http://robotxdesigns.ca/

Here are some very bad pictures of the parts :

Ro-Bot-X Board Reviews

Introduction

Recently, Ro-Bot-X send me three boards to evaluate. I had previously ordered his Robot Builder's Shield V1, and commented with some constructive feedback and a review on it after using the board for Penny.

It's Alive!

After finally getting all the parts and assembling my new uBotino board, it didn't work! So I grabbed my multimeter and began probing around to find the problem. Got my Dad to hep me since he spent his entire career in electronics. Apparently, this particular board had a couple of places where the etching didn't complete properly. Found a short on the input pin of the voltage regulator and a short on pin 14 of the motor driver.

Mini-Sumo Robot: Pink Pearl

I recently got the bug to build a mini sumo robot. This will be my first fully autonomous robot and I wanted to use a traditional design process for the build, rather than using trial and error. I'll start a project page when I actually start building something. The name came from my favorite pencil eraser, the Pink Pearl. Get it? Eraser? Mini sumo? Ahem... Well, on with the details. The robot will be some shade of pink to match its name. I want to test the belief that color significantly impacts the ability to be seen by IR.

µBotino - 2"sq board for robotics, Arduino compatible

After playing with the Robot Builder's Shield, I've decided to make a small robot board that has the same features as the shield. I wanted it to be 2"x2" (5x5cm) so it can be fabricated cheap and to be appealing to many robot builders that still build small robots.

I present the µBotino robot controller. Features:
