LCD and AVR kit

Hello,

I am doing my own AVR kit. I connected LCD 8x2 on port A and B (RS - PA1; R/W - PB4; E - PA0; DB4-7 - PB0-3) . When LCD is not in the circuit nothing work like power supply is off. When LCD is in the circuit everything run. Connect and disconnect LCD is one of the important part of this kit.

LCD

Hi.

Has anyone tried using These LCDs with an arduino? I'm not sure whether they're HDD44780 compatible or not, and I can't seem to find much of a datasheet.

Thanks in advance.

Lcd hack

I recently found this thing

a lcd display from an old tensiometer.

It's nice an I wondered how could I hack it, since I have no datasheet and since the cables are really small:

and very hard to solder.

Could anyone help with this?

Picaxe LCD problem

Hi

A friend of mine is using a picaxe 20m2 to drive a milford instrument 20x4 LCD with a serial backpack. However, when he turns it on, it just comes on with a screen filled with triangles. The LCD is connected to pin 0 .The code he's running is below. What is the problem?

PS: This is my first post, so sorry if it's in the wrong place.

WINSTAR LCD WH1602A help needed (SOLVED)

Hello community!

I have started experimenting with a LCD and the Picaxe Serial Firmware chip (FRM010). The idea is to use it to display the values of an ADC input to help write code for my line follower.

I haven´t been able to display anything at all on the LCD (not even the welcome message). In the process of troubleshooting, my first stop is to confirm a weird pinout on the base of the winstar PCB.

ezLCDuino Backpack

I am just going to make it clear that the boards are not currently going to come preprogrammed with some kind of serial LCD backpack code or other code. It will be up to you to program it how you please, but all the capabilities are there. I will be posting example code though and hopefully some tutorials to get started.

Here is my custom controller version 2. I made it so I can have some input to my robots and get information back. It is a simple design. It has a LCD, Xbee, custom … Read more

New parts

Hello everyone,

So I took the quiz on free day over at Sparkfun.com . After about an hour of answering a questions in between re-loading pages, I finally answered to questions correctly before it was all over. So I got $20 worth of parts. So I didn't know what to buy so I bought some random parts for fun. I ordered these products:

Backlight LCD's Black on green 16 x 1 (14pin with 2 sepearte for the backlight)

I have found a place that sold these and I got 12 of them.

I have spent the time interfacing them to the Adruino board and mapping out what it takes to drive them.

For some reason these are hard wired for 8 data only.(sorry no 4 pin input)

However they work well. To display text on all 16 locations is tricky as you have to tell it to jump to another DDRam location.

I will see about getting an image of the device very soon.

Stuff in the mail

Horray.

Today i just received two packets in the mail. In one of these was an lcd which i bought for less than 5$ incl. shipping, while in the other was a 434 mhz rf link kit, which cost around 8$. So far i haven't tested either, as i received them moments ago. I will soon be using them though, proabably to make a custom arduino rf controller, i only need a second arudino..
