Lego mindstorms books to go.[gone]

isotope's picture

Ok, I've got these two books about Lego mindstorms as a prize for my LadyBugBot winning the RobotBox online competition lying around for a long time. Now, as I dig them out, I definitely know I will not be reading them for a long time... So, they are looking for a new owner, who is interested in Lego NXT. The books are:

The Lego Monster Chess Project

I saw this video on Youtube and it let me speechless... I know who is the mastermind behind the project and after I visited his website I found out I know several other members as well.

The Lego Great Ball Contraption

Ro-Bot-X's picture

Robotics people sometimes are asked to be a Robot Show presenter. They look for ideas of what might get people interested in robotics. Here is an idea of a great show built using Lego robots and other contraptions, called the Cooperative Cybernetic Crate Contraption, by the SMART group, but one can be inventive and build something similar, probably less spectacular, using regular robots and contraptions.

Let's face it, I've been a total slacker when it comes to building robots (I can hear the distant voice of fritsl mumbling something about never finishing my robot … Read more

Cute Lego Felt Tip Printer

ignoblegnome's picture

A friend forwarded this to me. Cool application of Lego to make a printer. The video author's comment on YouTube:

"Lego felt tip 110" printer connected to an Apple Mac.  This is not a kit you can buy and does not use MindStorms. I designed/built/coded it all from scratch including analog motor electronics, sensors and printer driver, the USB interface uses a "wiring" board.

Once again, this is not my work. I'm just posting something I found cool.

A NXT robot playing tetris.

It uses a DSP board for the image processing and decision making, then uses different colour LEDs to indicate the NXT robot which key it should press.

Mindstorm NXT 2.0 N900 - Twitter-controlled Robot

Nokia ran a competition that asked hackers and modders to push their new device, the N900, to its limits.  Judges selected the three best submissions and one of those was 'NIKO The N900 Robot' - a robot controllable through commands on Twitter built out of Lego NXT Mindstorm 2.0.

"Moooo" Rare Swiss Cow Project has begun

Gareth's picture

Following on from the Laser Experiments i have decided to attach it to some kind of walking Robot.

I am now a avid fan of Theo Jansen -  after rik brought him to light in his Blog.

So far i have Prototyped two pairs of "Theo" legs using "MindStorms" as an experimental base.

It worked better than i could have imagined - these legs go like a Cow on its way to the milking parlour.........

Only problem now is what  medium shall i use to make the final version.....

My UAV ideas

Ajster's picture

I've been reading this site for the past week or so, and it has really inspired me to get more into robotics. I've had a couple of ideas for robots that I want to make in the future, I am going to start of with fritsl's starting robot, but I just wanted to share some of my future ideas to see what you guys think.
