Just a quick question: is differential drive achievable with a 4WD platform? It's an outdoor robot (half a meter in both width and length) and the tires are probably going to be rubber ones. The wheels will be fairly close but I'm still afraid the grip from the tires will be too much. On the other hand I don't want to invest in a complicated drive system.
Update January 25th, 2012 It has been a while since my last update but a lot has been done to the Rover. Some of the big achievements include some basic … Read more
Hi guys,
Hope this is the right forum.
I'm building a robot based on the Dagu Rover 5 chassis and experiencing problems with it shedding it's tracks. The motor angle is about 45 degs.
Anybody had any experience with these and stopping the tracks coming off (even on smooth hardwood floor) during a turn?
I'm hoping someone has done a modification or something to keep them on, other wise this Robot may be getting itself converted to tires :-(
Thanks guys
Shane

A couple of months ago I started talking here about building a hexapod. I had it all planned out, made drawings, chose materials, hardware, electronics, made myself a shopping list and was good to go.
Four wheel drive vehicles have always excited my imagination, and this time I joined two Farrusco (Dagu's) chassis in front to front as you can see in the … Read more

looks like an interesting new Arduino robot platform. A real 4 wheel-drived robot with Atmega168 processor, Zigbee interface, quadrature encoder wheel encoders.
Sorry, embedding Video from Flickr doesn't seems to work, so here are the links:
Update: Just a small new video, nothing really. Just my studies, I use the platform for different testing of stuff. Video and slow motion helps :)
