LMR DAGU Contest - Ideas ... or ...

<tongue in cheek>

Just so that everyone gets a fair peek inside everyone else ideas file, I propose that all contenders in the LMR DAGU Contest post their ideas right here. Any conceptual or technical art work is encouraged. Schematics, photos, drawings, origami, whatever. Use this thread for inspiration and sharing!

After all, we are all going for the same goal, aren't we?!?!? Or are we....

<tongue out of cheek?>

Messing with the Picaxe editor help menu

When researching the exact connections on my 28x1 projectboard, I scowered my directory C:\Program Files\Programming Editor\datasheets\ and found user.txt.

And guess what? It lets you change the help menu in your editor.

That fourth option was not there before! All that was needed was one extra line in the textfile:
PCB hackers need to Read this F*****g Manual now!=c:\Program Files\Programming Editor\datasheets\axe001_pcb.pdf

Howto browse LMR! (A guide to oldies)

Well folks,

A dear LMR friend recently drew my attention to his ignorance regarding the way this site works for him. This person, who shall remain anonymous, has been a member, like, for ever (in fact only 23 members joined before him). So I assumed he would know by now how threading works. And how to keep track of the latest updates.

why won't my phone charge?

HI I NEED HELP! PLEASE?

;-)

Just kidding. This is scraping the bottom of relevancy though.

Could you perhaps point me to a good documentation source for charging a 3.6 V battery in an old Nokia? Or could you solve my problem directly for me?

My dad is about to go walkabout in the south of Europe. He bought a 12 V photovoltaic power source that folds like a wallet. He seeks my help on the simple stuff, like mechanical compatibility of connectors and pinouts. And soldering.

pwmout newbie questions

Why is this code not registering on my multimeter?

#picaxe 28x1

main:
pwmout 2 , 62, 250 ' 100% @ 16 Khz
pause 2000

pwmout 2 , 62, 25  '  10% @ 16 Khz
pause 2000
goto main

I measure DC over GND and digital output pin #2. And it keeps reading 0 V. Is the pwm too fast for my meter? Should I put a cap in/accross?

Sharp again - part numbers confuse me

I am shopping for Sharp distance sensors like the one used in "Start Here". My local mail order supplier charges €26 and I am boycotting them for that reason alone.

So I am searching for other suppliers and I find confusing part numbers. I understand the difference between Analogue and Digital sensors. I want the Analogue kind. And I want to measure distances up to 11.8" (30cm).

Are these parts all that different?

Theo Jansen legs - possible applications

Here is an open invote to all of you to join yet another Shoutbox debate. Oddbot and I are both thinking of ways to mount a vehicle, or creature, on Theo Jansen legs. (use the search box)

Most creatures living on the 'net have two sets of three legs. Each set on a side. In the front and in the back. Many creatures I saw even double up on the legs: six in front, six in the rear. All connected to the same crankshaft in the center of the creature.

DC motors: "altered brush timings"

In this thread, under Chris' noise question, Cliff suggested that motors sometimes are optimized to run in one direction. To the detriment of the motor's performance when running in the opposite direction. Ken observed the same thing in car-window-wiper-motors. Now I want to know more about this.

Have a look at the motor I use for my Theo Jansen Leg experiments.
