Let's Make Robots!

LMR Post Card Wall

In 2009 Frits started a "Scrap Book" forum where we could post links when another website featured an LMR robot. Now I think LMR needs a postcard wall where we can post photos of LMR members meeting each other (such as the campus party) and even a photo or two when we are on vacation in some  exotic place.

Simple Encoder Kit

DAGU is now releasing a simple, low cost, encoder kit. This kit consist of two hall effect sensors and two 8-pole nedymium magnets with rubber hubs. The rubber hubs will easily push onto most motor shafts or a small screw.

Multipurpose Mini-Machine for your Workshop

These days everyone is talking about how great 3D printing is but for the hobbyist this still limits you to plastic parts. Before 3D printers were around I always wanted a lathe and a milling machine, I still do!

When you want to build more than just basic robots it is sometimes necessary to make small metal parts. Maybe you need a special metal rod, mounting bracket, shaft adaptor etc.

Converting an STL file to Gcode to drive a CNC mill or lathe

As mentioned in my blog, "Multipurpose Mini Machine" DAGU wants to develop a low cost CNC machine kit. The models shown here will not be the final product, they are simply what I used for testing the quality of the components.

Part of the kit will be an Arduino compatible controller. Ok, I know, nothing new so far.

This animatronic head was created for a demonstration to inspire contestants in a local competition. I put a fair bit of effort into the design so I am now hoping … Read more

New LMR Banner - Hi resolution photos required

Please tell me your nationality!
So far I have received about 30 photos from about 9 people. I need at least 80! I want to put your flag in the corner of your photos so people can see that LMR consist of members from around the world. In some cases I have received photos but no mention of nationality.

Some members such as myself were born in one country but now live in another. In that case you may want to display 2 flags or a hybrid flag. These were sent to me by Lumi and Dickel.

Prototype animatronic head

Well my boss is involved in organizing a robot head building contest in China and asked me to make an example to inspire the contestants. I know many will just be made from cardboard and wood but I decided that if I was going to spend time on this project then I wanted to make the most of it and develop a new product.
