LMR Store

Hey guys, I just had and idea- how bout we make an LMR store?

ATMEL or PIC

Okay, this is just a little "this vs. that" quiz so I can find out what you guys generally prefer. Vote PIC for PICs or PIC based devices like PICAXEs and ATMEL for ATMELs and stuff like Arduinos.

Serial LCD Ideas

I was wondering about what I could do with a normal 16x2 serial LCD. Like what kind of projects do you think would be fun? A video game?

Programming a Picaxe in Ubuntu

Well, a small comment in the shoutbox caused several guys to download Ubuntu. Good choice, I like it! Here's a walkthrough to programming a PICAXE in it.

STEP  1) Download the Linux Axepad here- http://www.rev-ed.co.uk/software/linaxepad_100.tar.gz

STEP 2)  Extract the files to a folder on your desktop called "LinAXEPad" or whatever you want to call it.

LASERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I have this laser tube lying around and I was wondering how to use it. It is a Helium-Neon (HE-NE) gas laser tube built by Uniphase.

horrible picture, just like most of mine

It's description is very vague, I'll read you the label.

Custom project board in progress...

Hi, I have a spare PICAXE 28x1 and L293D that I want to use for my first custom built circuit. But i have no clue what to do!!! The diagrams on the Picaxe website are so confusing and the ones in the manuals only show the pinouts. Can I just hook up 4.5 volts? Or do I need fancy shmancy support circuitry like capacitors and stuff?

Thanks guys!

UPDATE:

I have a diagram of the L293D and it is nice to have, but very confusing.
