Free BT Android Control App

I guess some folks have been looking for my old robot app. I decided to post it here for any/all to use for free. I have long since lost the instruction manual I wrote for it but it should be pretty easy to set up and use.

If anyone wants to write a quick info manual, please do.

Basically,

Large Scale Humanoid Concept

Did some CAD using SolidWorks, and made this:

This is my first attempt at an arm

My first attempt at an arduino uno arm

4x micro servers

lollypop sticks

bent paperclips

and a whole load of hot glue

etc etc

powered by farnell 5v supply as very jittery on batteries

Open FURBY is an open community-based project with the goal of providing low-cost social robot platform based on FURBY® toy from Hasbro®.

voice recognition and access port won't work small prob help please ;(

i have used this before on a diffrent computer but  im trying to use access port to code the voice reg module on a old windows computer not to oldlike 2005ish ;(  when i hit start monitor it says error pecifify file or port make sure your an addminastrator, and access ports not already running in the backround. and when i hit settings and ok it said error port not on or never been used before and send to pecific port

New LMR Logo Kit

Here is the LMR logo with the new slogan, as voted upon by the LMR community:

The LMR logo concept was originally designed by Nicolas Dupont (ndupont).

The Logobot is made by Jon / Psycop / Psy (psy).

where to get spear parts for junk parts robots

it would be cool to be able to just take apart a calculater, an old printer or tv and have enough knoledge to turn its parts into a funtional robot. But maybe you can!! And im  about to show you how, all you need are:

some intermediate electrical engeneering knoledge, curcuits etc.

* a multimeter (an advanced electricity meter for curcuits)

* old tv,printer, electrical toy like spy gear etc.

Conquer the Divide - Faster Integer Division

Conquer the Divide - Faster Integer Division

Introduction

How to implement C-style integer division on a microcontroller that doesn't provide appropriate instructions? In school we learn how to divide long nunmbers [1]. Wikipedia tells us that we can do better in certain cases [2]. However, these algorithm are only better for numbers longer than a certain limit. For C operations they don't give any advantage. This article presents an algorithm based on piecewise polynomial approximation to implement this operation.

DIY CNC Safety Guide + Emergency Stop Button giveaway

Hi guys,

Recently I've been worked with RS Components to make a safety guide for the DIY community, mainly focusing on DIY CNC machines. I thought it might interest you because some of you use CNC machines for building your robots.

Also, get in touch if you feel that some of your machines could use a shiny big red emergency stop button, I might be able to send you one!

The main aim of the project is to raise awarness about safety issues, so feel free to share any of your own experiences and tips!

Cheap 40W Laser Engraver from China

I have wanted a laser engraver for quite some time but the price has always been prohibitive for me. Recently though, I found some engravers from china on Amazon for about $500.00 USD and free shipping. Plus, I contacted the vendor and found that the unit would ship from California. I read all the reviews and they all agreed that the machine is great. However, the downside of these machines was the software that is included. After carefully considering all the relevant information I decided to purchase one.

Online Tools & Tutorials

Building a robot is not always easy, especially if you don't have any previous experience or people to help you or guide you. LMR is in a perfect place to help others online and the more tools and tutorials a user has access to the better. We've put together a few over the years and if you know of any or even want to make your own, add them in the comments, and we'll add them to the main post. We'll also take a look on LMR to see if this type of comprehensive "Tools & Tutorials" post has been done before and integrate them all into a mega post.

ComMotion Motor Controller Shield

Need help with the ComMotion Motor Controller Shield. Searching at this site for info on this shield leads to many pages with 404 errors.

Examples of broken links related to ComMotion are:

Laser range finder hack

Today I found  a PLR 15 laser range finder from Bosch for 45 Euro in a German DIY store. I bought and disassembled it to see if it could be used as a laser ranger finder in robotics. The main issue will be to debug the communication protocol. I hope it outputs distance measurements over serial directly like the UNI-T UT390B.

[PIWARS] Progress update- manual control, speed test

Another update on Lobsang! I've been doing lots of work on the code so a lot of the progress is not visible. However, the Lobsang.py library and the RasPiO Duino's core.ino have bee heavily modified. New functionalities have been written and the whole boot-up process is a lot smoother.

Let me expand on the boot process as to hackers and roboteers (ie. not normal people!) it is quite interesting.

1: Power switch set to 'ON'. Pi, Duino, and everything else on Lobsang is powered on.

Unboxing from the box...

I have found great deals at "...inthebox.com" and they are great at creating rings and loops to jump through if, somehow you are charged ALOT for a misconception...or not. After months, (MONTHS) of trying to get their attention, being told to go to this, select that, press this, click that- I still have not received refunds. Anyhow- will update this rant. Regarding unboxing; the LCD modules (4 of them) all were faulty. These will the nice white on blue that mount over the mega, no wiring.

Two-Speed Gearbox Concept

I come from the FIRST Robotics Competition, and recently, I designed a gearbox that can shift between two different speeds. This is mounted "invertedly", meaning that the motor shaft points inward of the test chassis as opposed to outward. The piston has a special mount called the "DOG" gear, and that latches to either of the two gear combinations on the lower shaft, allowing that shaft to rotate with that combination's speed and torque.

Modular esp8266 local network

Goals

  • user needs to configure only the first module
  • as easy as possible to add new module
  • each module has a purpose
  • modules know what modules are online
  • accessible singularly
  • wireless configuration
