Let's Make Robots!

The Mailman

Long time no see...

I just wanted to share with you something I worked on during the month of January. I particpated in a robot competition here at M.I.T called MASLAB. My robot and team ended up taking 1st place. The details can be found on my website.

I'm sorry that I don't have the time to write a proper robot post about it on LMR.

Learning Electronics Via The J5 Obstacle Avoidance Robot

Hello to the LMR community. This first blog post is basically just an introduction for me and what I am about.

Creating a Picaxe 08M LCD Driver ( 2 wire Driver )

A few weeks back I decided to make another attempt at driving an LCD using picaxe. My first attempt was almost a year ago, however when the $6 LCD failed to display anything I wrote it off as defective.

But after a long night where i found it hard to sleep i stumbled on a  site that should me clearly how to power up and set the contras with backlight on. 15 minutes in and i was hooked. LCD light boxes displayed as i adjusted the contrast using a 1oK pot.

Controlling a Raspberry Pi / Arduino Bot from the Internet Part 2 of 3

This is part two of a three part Series to explain how I control my BotTwo semi-Autonomous Robot from a webpage on the Internet.

Pixy Out of Box

Well, it finally came in, the Pixy CMUcam5.

I'm still working with it, but wanted to make a real quick note about a few things.

SmartRap received

Here we are: I received all the parts to build my own SmartRap

For the moment, just a quick unboxing:

LMR in Google

I am replying to the message Frits posted on the start page.

I did a qick check about the google presence and there is no sign of disappearance. I am sure it just had a small hickup due the website changing (owner) and/or registration.

As we all want LMR to be the #1 I am also putting links whereever I see fit. Please do the same but do not spam other forums, just place the link where you think it's appropriate.

Dagu Robotic Arm 6DoF - Bacuri02 Project

I recently received my Dagu Robotic Arm 6 DOF with Arexx control board 32 servos.

My original project is to use an Arduino Mega to control the arm and then make a wifi connection joystick control.

As I have not received my Arduino Mega board, I started tinkering in Arexx control board that I received along with the robotic arm. Along with the kit also came with a CD ROM which I believed the program to be installed on the computer to control the arm.

Graphene Rocks

I have been searching for some conductive ink for some projects for some time now, its not so easy to get and very expensive.

I have been following :- Robert Murray Smith he is a prolific designer .... of all sorts....

Luckily for me he is currently working on a series of Graphene based products - one of which is conductive ink (just what G needs)

Thanks!

Two days back I got a parcel. It was from Thailand, and to my surprise it contained 5 pcs of TQFP32 to DIP breakout boards. First of all I was confused as Ladvien resides in US and he told me that he might send something.

Thanks a lot ladvien, will post pics soon. This is my first SMD soldering. Have soldered three MCUs on them. I shall be glad if I can be of any help to you. Thanks again.

Long Live LMR   .....................ALABTU !!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope it's a phase

Lately I can barely bring myself to look at the lab.

DAGU CNC mill controller - first prototype

I've been developing a CNC controller for DAGU. The project originally started late 2012 but got shelved because of other projects. Now we've dusted it off and plan to finish it in the next 6 months. Unfortunately blog post don't support video so watch the video that explains the basics by clicking on the link.

Now that was FAAAST!

Hey there guys,

A week earlier, our fantastic LMR member Lumi was kind enough to sponsor me a gripper arm and a pan tilt bracket (for 3DOF). I was planning to use it in a project for a local exhibition. More on that soon! Let's see how the shipping went.

Kossel Build

03/11/14

I'll fix pics when I get home.  Was trying image hosting to relieve Juliette.  Didn't work.

Well, post came.

I finall have "all" the pieces for my 3D printer.  I sourced a few of the major parts and ended up buying the rest from www.builda3dprinter.eu.  And today that order came in.  So, let me review.

What would you want on a Propeller Quickstart "do it all" shield?

After playing with the Propeller Quickstart, I'm thinking it could use a "shield" to make it more "Arduino" like.

Something like the Mega Sensor Shield, but with a few more goodies. I'm quite a newbie at electronics, so pardon my innocence..... ;-)

Mega blocks - DRC seeker working...

Well.... I set myself the task of creating a robot that would learn an object then go and find it using vision....

Mission accomplished.... well, its probably not very robust but that's a problem for another day...

Today's task was the Mega Block challenge -  an area bordered by Mega Blocks (it's what the kids use and have quite detailed images on them that I can use as objects to find):
