Let's Make Robots!

Sphinx 4

magykguy721's picture

Ok so I downloaded Sphinx 4 and I am attempting to use it with Java. I am using Eclipse and this is all going down on a Windows XP. I have downloaded everything I need but I can't seem to figure out which JAR files I need in my library in Eclipse. I was wondering if someone who has some experience with Sphinx could offer some insight into how to get everything set up and running so I can start coding. I basically need to know which JAR files I need in my library. Thanks for the help!

Help on traction for a biped

Wily_Inc's picture

I am currently working on what is my second robot project.  It is a simple biped.  It relies heavily on balancing itself on one foot for walking.  The feet are cut sheets of PVC and are giving me some slipping when it walks.  I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for something to give it a little more traction when it walks but with out making it too sticky.  I am hoping to have some more details and pictures or video up next week if anyone needs more information.  Thanks.

line follower sensor board

i'm building a line follower robot and i have to make the sensor board.i have 7 qre1113, in your opinion what is the best way to put them? i was thinking of something like this:

I need some motor driver advice

Photolong's picture

Ok all im trying to use L298N Motor Driver board  ............  But im finding it to be pretty inefficent ... as in its really heavy on batterys .... Trying to run a pair of motors whch were in a robot that used 6v .... and to get them to work with this motor driver board Im having to put in 9v (not a 9v battery ....

Charming Robot Shirts, cases, & other products

Daves Sketchbook's picture

Dave has been making robots in a different medium than is typical here.  I probably can't keep up with the tech discussion, but if you're at all interested in a fun and light hearted robot t-shirt or case for your iphone, check out my Zazzle store.  These are the robots of your childhood!

recommendations for tamiya gearbox motor drivers

As my name suggests i'm a newbie looking for some advice. I have a tamiya gearbox with two dc motors with suggested operating voltage of 3V. To control these motors i want to connect a ready made h-bridge ic or create my own using some transistors. I'd rather just buy the h-bridge ic to save time but i have some tip transistors if needed.

Unnable to controll wild thumper with radio

Feda's picture

Hi Everyone!

Im absolutely new too this, so sorry if my question seems dumb. Im using a wild thumper board, wildt thumper 6wd platform and Lipo 2200 mah battery. 6 channel radio with reciever

Problem 1: Im not able too run the platform using the default setup. It will not respond. The radio and reciever works, i have connected a servo that responds, but the thumper will not.

Different buttons for different loops, building wired control

Hi everyone.
Im new into this arduino programing and i totaly love it!
Im building a realy simple 3 servo hexapod walker. All the building is completed and im able to program it to do different thing for example walk forward, or turn.

Custom Babblebot (soundgin) shield programming-how to play allophones?

Hey Fritz- You posted elsewhere that you'd done some work with this chip. I have one set up with an arduino and I'm getting it to work in demo mode(pin 13 to gnd) but whenever I try to send serial information to it I get unpredictable and unrepeatable results. Any pointers on how to tell it to use which allophone in a sketch? Thanks!

Project synapse

SimpleBotics's picture
Yet again I have failed to create a decent arduino robot, so I'm just going to heavily work on synapse to the best of my ability. I want this bot to have eye brows controlled via solar engine, a mouth hooked up to a 555 ic, LED eyes via photo cells, arms with spdt switches, a buzzer for sound via solar engine, and hair on his head via spdt switches (if touched mouth will move) . Yes I know it's a big leap from my stupid bristlebot "robots." So if I complete this then I'll just redeem myself for this year.

Ping ultrasonic sensor, servo and an Arduino

I'm trying to use a servo with my ping ultrasonic sensor to build an autonomous robot like many fellow robot poineers.

At the moment I'm using an "for" function to rotate my servo in increments of a few degrees, take a measurement with the sonar senor, rotate a few more degrees and then take another measument etc.

infrared sensors

flare's picture

I've got two sets of phototransistors and infrared emitters put together to make two IR distance sensors. They are both connected in the same way, both powered by my Arduino Uno, both with the same resistor, etc. But when I check the values I'm getting from them, one of them ranges from about 980 - 1010, with the higher value closest to the sensor. The other, however, goes from about 350 - 570, with the higher value the furthest from the sensor.
