Motor and wheels

Hi there,

In a current project (for school) I'm in need of a pair of wheels and matching motors...

I've had a look at this page, but they look a bit small (don't know the measurements) and weak... I need a pair of motors and wheels that can support about 20-30 kilo (44-66 lbs) at least... any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Programming an atmega with the Arduino IDE

Hi guys.

from this post (http://letsmakerobots.com/node/5593 ) by Rudolph i learned that you can program an atmega with the arudino IDE even if you haven't got an arduino board.

What i have here with me now is an atmega328, a serial programmer (precisely this one: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=14 ).

Idea for Challenge? (Much needed!) (saving the fishies!)

I don't know what gave me the idea.. lol, I remember watching a video about this a while back.. but just remembered it today out of the blue.

Basically, it'd need to be small scaled for now, but maybe ideas for the future companies! (and/or countries!) But I can't believe it's seriously gotten to this point... a garbage patch bigger than the size of Texas, in the Pacific Ocean! They find fish and birds as well, their stomaches full of the plastic they ate. (I mean, FULL.. it's more plastic than meat inside of the fish!) But anyways..onto the "Idea":

Frits F*cked up!

Did anyone else notice this? Start here... Anyone?

Frits, if there is one thing that pic chips don't like, it is static! You know those silly wrist straps? So why, why in the world, would you take pictures of all your parts for the start here bot on top of styrofoam?!?!?!?

I personally can not think of a more static-friendly item then styrofoam. Why are you leading our LMR kids on the wrong path?

Please, help me with PICAXE Programming Editor!

I'm beginner of Picaxe Programming Editor. Please, help me!

How  can i  do, that robot play the sound of Mario's theme or Nokia tune?

I should do, that robot drive around the circle near 30 cm.How?

lithium batteries

I bought some li-ion cells for a dollar a piece and was hoping to use a couple in series to give 7.4v. However they do not want to co-operate. When I connect them in series the voltage just dies to millivolts?

Individually they work fine putting out 3.7v and although I haven't discharged one fully yet I suspect they'll run close to the 670mAh they are rated at.

IS there something specific to li-ion batteries that you can't just hook them up in series like other cells? This one has me puzzled. If I can't work it out I'll just have to do a booster I guess.

Looking for serial servo controller

I hope this is the right forum category.

I am looking to operate 12~ servos with a serial connection and i'm looking for a serial board that will either be compatable with the picaxe X1's or the arduino 2009. Sparkfun only seems to have an 8 servo controller and i've been out of the robotics area for a while and don't know where to look.

20Amp Motor Driver/Controller

I am looking for a 20 amp motor controller/driver. I prefer an IC, that way I can integrate my own driver circuitry, but if it is cheap (under 50) post it. I'd prefer if it could provide 20 amps per channel. It will be operating on 12VDC.

Basic platform - On the cheap

Hi, I'm planning to make a small set of self designed swarm bots.

In terms of a mechanical platform, what's my best bet. My criteria are cheapness and easiness. Ideally, it should cost < $25 per platform, and be easy to make.

So far, I'm thinking of pairing two solarbotics GM9 gearmotors and wheels with a thin wood base, and a third caster-esque wheel.

Is this the best way to go?

brainless line follower

im trying to build the brainless line follower posted on this site having trouble getting circuit off the ground anybody got any tips orhelp . I am a beginner in robotics and electronics and all this is till confusing to me so any help would be appeciated.

qrb 1114

anybody tell me where to get a schematic for this sensor or tell what each pin is

8051 programming cable

Hi! I'am begineer in microcontrollers! I have 8051 mc can anyone give a schematic for parallel or serial progammer I cant buy a universal programmer! please help! Give a schematic!

Romeo arduino compatable board boot loader

Hi every one

Well i am having some trouble with my Romeo. I havnt been able to program it via boot loader and i have figure it it my boot loader.

So A. how long does the boot loader take to load a program, less than 100 bytes. B. any suggestions on what i should do. eg. reload the boot loader, change a setting etc

 thanks for your help

I'm new to the idea of coding and would like to learn more about it, any tips or sites to go to to learn more about coding?

Pins for PICAXE 28X1

I bought the PICAXE 28X1 starter kit so that I can make the Start robot. I've ordered two sets of pins to solder on the two spots needed on the project board, but they were both the wrong size. I don't know of anywhere locally to buy these. Can anyone please direct me to a site with the correct sized pins for sale?

Max voltage for a motor

I have some DC motors disassembled from a printer (HP Business Inkjet 1000) and need to know their working/maximum voltage. Searching the motor's model name in google revealed nothing.

The printer works on 32 volts (!), but I doubt all that juice arrives to the motors.
In its current condition, there's no chance to test the voltage while printer is running.

Besides a trial and error approach that might fry the motors - How can I find the correct voltage for each motor?

Need help with rotating electrical connection!

Hey guys,

I'm doing a project and would appreciate some help. I essentially have a DC motor controlling a blade from the center. On the blade is a sensor that I need to wire to the main circuit that is below the DC motor. The problem is when the blade rotates the wires will obviously tangle.

Servo Strength

Alright, so i've been out of the game for a while and most of my parts are being used. I now need to order several servos (12 in total) for a hexapod build I am planning. Each leg will have 2 DOF, with one standard servo (i'll come back to this) connected to turn the leg right and left, and a more powerful servo (coming back to this again) to move the leg up and down. I'm not exactly short on cash right now, but I really want this to be a relatively cheap build.

increase servo speed

Hi guys

i have built a well running heapod based on the picaxe 18x controller board

only thing i notice, compring with some  the bots here, is that the servos seem so slow

can i speed them somehow

IR puls modulation reciver

Now i have been looking after some info about when you are making a IR obstracle sensor. Is it realy that important with modulation if it is used indoors? And if it is, how do you get it to work, with modulation?

Most people that have made someting with modulation, dosent describe how you make the reciver modulate, or how you proces the data.

I can easily get the sender to modulate, but my question is, how do i get my reciver to modulate, and how do i proces the data.
